Fortress Technology Unveils Roll-Out Reject Device For Gravity Metal Inspection

Fortress
Fortress Technology has introduced a roll-out reject device designed to simplify access and cleaning on gravity metal detectors, addressing longstanding challenges in equipment hygiene and maintenance. The solution targets a common operational issue: the difficulty of accessing and removing reject mechanisms that sit fully enclosed within gravity inspection systems.

Improving Accessibility For Maintenance And Hygiene

According to the company, the new design allows the reject valve to roll out on rails, providing direct access to the product flow area inside both the valve and the product tube. The approach is intended to support faster changeovers and more effective deep-cleaning procedures by allowing operatives “complete access to working parts for maintenance and cleaning once correctly locked out,” ensuring improved hygiene standards for gravity reject devices.

The roll-out mechanism is particularly aimed at plants where regular sanitation cycles are required and where conventional sealed reject devices have made internal access slow or cumbersome. Fortress notes that, unlike clean-out doors or other entry points that can weaken structural rigidity, the roll-out design maintains the integrity of the valve body.

Maintaining Structural Strength

The company highlights that this design does not compromise the rigidity of the valve assembly, a common drawback of alternative access systems in gravity metal detection. By maintaining structural robustness, the system aims to preserve performance while reducing downtime linked to cleaning and maintenance tasks.

Positioning In The Processing Line

Gravity metal detectors are widely used in dry product environments such as powders, grains, snacks, spices, and granular ingredients. The newly introduced roll-out reject device is intended as an upgrade for processors looking to enhance sanitation procedures and reduce turnaround time between production runs. While Fortress provides no commercial details in the announcement, the innovation is clearly positioned as a practical improvement in routine plant operations rather than a redesign of the detection system itself.
