Lay’s launches three chip flavors inspired by game day

Lay’s is kicking off football season a little early with three new chip flavors inspired by tailgating party favorites.

The iconic snack company announced a number of noteworthy releases in the past few months alone, partnering with Lionel Messi for a first-of-its-kind release earlier this summer and bringing back its fan-favorite Southern Biscuits and Gravy before that. Now, Parade is told the PepsiCo brand is keeping the momentum going ahead of the upcoming NFL season with several new chip varieties it said were “inspired by game day classics.”

New this August is the “bold heat” of Lay’s Hot Sauce, the “tangy attitude” of Lay’z Wavy Loaded Nachos, and the “cheesy” savoriness of Lay’s Kettle Cooked Cheesy Buffalo Dip. According to the brand, Lay’s Hot Sauce flavored potato chips “don’t hold back,” and their “bold heat with a tangy attitude” promises to hold up to “your favorite hot sauce flavor in your favorite chips.”

While Lay’s Wavy Loaded Nachos flavor is said to replicate the creamy taste of cheese, spices and “a hint of jalapeño” to deliver “all the boldness” of the fully-loaded finger food in one bite. And “Cheesy. Tangy. Game-ready” is how Lay’s describes its new Kettle Cooked Cheesy Buffalo Dip flavored potato chips, adding that they “bring the heat.”

Dedication to scoring a touchdown with football fans aside, this isn’t the first time Lay’s has reimagined classic apps and entrees as potato chips, previously releasing an Adobadas flavor, a Bacon Grilled Cheese flavor, Korean-Style Fried Chicken, and a Thai-Style Red Curry.

Lay’s fans can find its new Hot Sauce, Wavy Loaded Nachos and Kettle Cooked Cheese Buffalo Dip-flavored chips at retailers nationwide that typically stock the brand and online via Snacks.com beginning August 18 for a limited time.
