State delegation visits NDDB’s Anand facilities to strengthen dairy infrastructure, improve milk production, and enhance farmer livelihoods through advanced cooperative models.
The Tripura Government is exploring a stronger partnership with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to accelerate the development of the state’s dairy sector. As part of the initiative, Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD) Minister Sudhangshu Das visited NDDB’s headquarters and dairy facilities in Anand, Gujarat, to study successful cooperative dairy models and discuss future collaboration.
During the visit, the Tripura delegation held discussions with NDDB officials on strengthening milk production, expanding dairy cooperatives, improving milk procurement systems, and developing modern processing infrastructure. The proposed collaboration is expected to introduce technical expertise, advanced dairy management practices, and capacity-building programmes for dairy farmers across the state.
The initiative builds on a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in June 2026 between the Tripura ARDD, NDDB, and the Gomati Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. The agreement aims to modernise the state’s dairy cooperative network, enhance milk production, improve marketing systems, and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for dairy farmers.
Officials believe adopting NDDB’s cooperative model will help Tripura become more self-reliant in milk production while strengthening the entire dairy value chain. The partnership is also expected to encourage investments in milk collection centres, chilling facilities, processing plants, and quality assurance systems, supporting the production of value-added dairy products.
The visit reflects Tripura’s broader strategy to modernise its dairy sector through institutional collaboration, technology adoption, and improved farmer support. By leveraging NDDB’s expertise, the state aims to increase dairy productivity, improve rural incomes, and build a more resilient and competitive dairy industry capable of meeting growing consumer demand.
