The new 124,800-tonne facility lifts CP Vietnam’s national aquafeed capacity above 650,000 tonnes annually while strengthening shrimp-farming supply in the Mekong Delta.
CP Vietnam, a subsidiary of Thailand’s Charoen Pokphand Group, has opened a new US$66.1 million aquafeed manufacturing facility in Ca Mau Province, strengthening its production capacity and feed supply network for Vietnam’s aquaculture industry. The facility was opened in early August 2026.
Located in the Khanh An Industrial Park, the new Ca Mau Aqua Feedmill covers approximately 18 hectares and has a designed annual production capacity of 124,800 metric tonnes. With the addition of the new plant, CP Vietnam’s total aquafeed production capacity in the country has exceeded 650,000 tonnes per year across four plants.
The facility will produce six shrimp-feed product lines for farmers across the Mekong Delta, Vietnam’s major seafood-producing region. The feeds undergo quality controls covering nutritional composition, sinking performance, water stability, moisture, pellet size and dust levels, with the aim of supporting shrimp health and growth.
The plant’s location close to major shrimp-farming areas is expected to improve the efficiency of the regional aquafeed supply chain. By reducing transportation distances, CP Vietnam expects to lower logistics costs and improve feed delivery response times for local farmers.
CP Vietnam also plans to combine production from the new facility with technical assistance and training programmes for aquaculture producers. This approach will allow the company to support farmers not only through feed supply but also through technical knowledge and production guidance.
The investment comes as Ca Mau’s shrimp industry continues to expand. The province produced approximately 594,851 tonnes of shrimp in 2025, representing a 5.2% year-on-year increase, according to data cited from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
The development also strengthens the connection between aquafeed manufacturing and seafood processing in the province. Earlier in 2026, Minh Phu Seafood opened a new 35,000-tonne shrimp-processing facility at the same Khanh An Industrial Park, equipped to produce higher-value products including breaded, tempura and sushi shrimp.
For the aquaculture and feed-manufacturing industries, CP Vietnam’s investment highlights the growing importance of strategically located feed production facilities. Expanding local manufacturing capacity can improve feed availability, shorten supply chains and support the continued development of Vietnam’s shrimp-farming sector.
The new facility therefore strengthens CP Vietnam’s position in Vietnam’s aquafeed market while supporting the Mekong Delta’s expanding aquaculture and seafood-processing ecosystem.
