More than 6.57 lakh new RuPay Kisan Credit Cards (KCCs) have been distributed to dairy farmers in Gujarat, strengthening access to institutional credit through the state’s cooperative banking network. The initiative is being implemented through District Central Cooperative Banks (DCCBs) and the State Cooperative Bank (StCB).
The RuPay KCCs are intended to provide dairy farmers with timely liquidity, lower-cost credit and convenient digital transactions. The facility is expected to help farmers manage recurring expenses and meet working-capital requirements more efficiently.
The programme also supports the use of digital payments within the dairy sector. By expanding access to banking services through cooperative institutions, it aims to make financial transactions more convenient for milk producers and improve their participation in the formal credit system.
The initiative forms part of the broader cooperative development drive, which seeks to strengthen financial inclusion at the grassroots level. The distribution of RuPay KCCs through cooperative banks and Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) is expected to support the livelihoods of dairy farmers and improve access to financial services in rural areas.
The development also reflects the government’s wider focus on using cooperatives to deliver accessible financial services under the “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” objective. By connecting dairy farmers with institutional credit and digital banking facilities, the programme aims to strengthen the role of cooperatives in supporting rural economic activity.
