Irish seafood processor Keohane Seafoods has secured a new supply agreement with UK retailer Marks & Spencer.
The Cork-based company will supply M&S with Irish organic oak-smoked salmon produced from fish farmed around the Beara Peninsula in southwest Ireland.
Keohane Seafoods said the product had been under development for three years before reaching the retailer. The family-owned processor operates from Bantry and Cork City and employs around 300 people. It processes and supplies seafood products to retail and foodservice customers in Ireland and export markets.
The new listing gives Keohane a direct route into M&S’s UK retail network and adds another outlet for Irish-farmed organic salmon. Keohane Seafoods said the salmon is smoked using Irish oak before being sliced and packed for sale under the M&S range.
The company has expanded significantly from its original Bantry operation and is now one of Ireland’s largest seafood processors.
