Licious Launches India’s First Packaged Chicken Jhol Momos

The frozen offering combines juicy chicken momos with a tangy, nutty and spicy jhol for a convenient restaurant-style experience at home.

Licious has expanded its value-added food portfolio with the launch of what it describes as India’s first packaged Chicken Jhol Momos in a frozen format, bringing the popular Himalayan-style dish into the ready-to-cook category. The new product combines chicken-filled momos with a flavourful broth, responding to growing consumer interest in regional food formats and convenient meal options.

Jhol momo is traditionally associated with Himalayan cuisine and features steamed dumplings served with a spicy, tangy broth. The format has gained wider popularity through restaurant menus and social media, encouraging food brands to adapt the dish for convenient at-home consumption. Licious has combined its existing Loaded Chicken Momos with a specially developed jhol described as tangy, nutty and spicy.

The new frozen pack contains six chicken momos along with a 90-gram sachet of jhol. Consumers can prepare the momos by steaming them for four to six minutes or pan-cooking them with a small amount of oil for about six minutes. The accompanying jhol can be heated with one to two tablespoons of water and served with the cooked momos.

The launch is part of Licious’ expansion in the value-added meat and ready-to-cook food segment. The company entered the packaged momo category earlier in 2026 with products including Loaded Chicken, Korean Chicken, Cheesy Chicken and Chunky Prawn variants.

According to Licious, its chicken momo has gained a strong response since the category launch, accounting for around 20% of the online packaged meat momo market, based on the company’s own assessment. The latest Jhol Momo launch is intended to build on that momentum by bringing a popular restaurant-style preparation into the frozen food segment.

The Chicken Jhol Momos are priced at ₹239 for a six-piece pack and are available through the Licious app in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, NCR, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Chandigarh. The launch gives consumers in these markets another ready-to-cook option within the expanding packaged meat and frozen food categories.

With consumers increasingly looking for convenient ways to enjoy familiar restaurant foods at home, the product reflects a broader trend toward packaged versions of regional and food-service favourites. Licious’ latest offering combines this convenience trend with the growing demand for innovative chicken-based ready-to-cook products.

The launch also strengthens Licious’ presence in the value-added food segment, where brands are increasingly developing convenient formats around popular eating occasions. By adapting Jhol Momo into a frozen product, the company is seeking to make the distinctive combination of chicken dumplings and spiced broth easier for consumers to prepare at home.
