Schuman Cheese, a long-established company in the specialty cheese industry, has entered a joint venture with GOOD PLANeT Foods to form GPV Foods, LLC. The new entity combines Schuman’s Vevan plant-based cheese brand with GOOD PLANeT’s established retail business.
The collaboration merges Schuman’s artisan approach to plant-based cheese with GOOD PLANeT’s extensive retail presence, creating a unified platform to drive innovation and expansion in the plant-based dairy sector.
Faster, bigger, better
Keith Schuman, Plant-Based Business Unit Lead at Schuman Cheese, commented on the partnership, stating, “This collaboration strengthens our manufacturing capabilities, expands our plant-based portfolio, and positions us for rapid growth in a category we strongly believe in.” He added that the combined efforts would lead to faster scalability, improved customer service, and enhanced product offerings in the plant-based cheese sector.
Merging retail leadership and artisan craft
GOOD PLANeT Foods has built a strong position in the retail market, offering dairy-free cheeses that are known for clean ingredients, superior melt, and consumer satisfaction. Meanwhile, Schuman’s Vevan brand has carved out a niche in both retail and foodservice, leveraging Schuman’s expertise in traditional cheese-making to create a dairy-free product with a focus on quality and taste. The new venture will capitalize on the strengths of both brands, combining Vevan’s foodservice and ingredient expertise with GOOD PLANeT’s retail reach.
The joint venture, GPV Foods, will focus on increasing production capacity, enhancing distribution networks, and investing in new technologies. This collaboration is expected to streamline operations and improve the ability to meet the increasing demand for plant-based cheese products.
David Israel, Founder and CEO of GOOD PLANeT Foods, noted, “By pairing our retail leadership with Vevan’s foodservice expertise, we have created a robust platform that enables us to reach more consumers, drive innovation, and accelerate growth within the category.”
