Around 4,725 metric tons of apples have been exported from Jumla to other districts since mid-July, according to the District Agriculture Development Office.
The office reported that shipments, mainly of Fuji and local varieties, are still ongoing, with total production and sales figures expected to be finalised by mid-December.
This year, apple production in Jumla was valued at about US$2.5 million (Rs 330.75 million), although total output showed a slight decline compared to last year.
More than 70 percent of households in Jumla are involved in apple farming, earning between US$340 and US$760 per season. The district is expected to produce around 13,000 metric tons of apples this year, among the lowest yields recorded in the past two years.
Of the total 4,445 hectares under apple cultivation, fruiting occurred in about 2,125 hectares. The main commercial varieties grown include Red Delicious, Royal Delicious, and Golden Delicious, along with newer introductions such as Fuji Gala and Stark Crimson Delicious.
