Lerøy Austevoll has officially opened its newly upgraded facility for the handling and processing of salmon and trout, marking a significant milestone for the company and the Norwegian seafood industry.
Located in the heart of Western Norway, the modernized facility is designed to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and quality in seafood production. With its full operational capacity, the facility now produces 11 million meals every week — enough to provide every Norwegian with a meal from Austevoll every third day.
“This is a big day for all of us working at Lerøy Austevoll, and for the entire local community,” said Ivar Helge Melingen, Managing Director of Lerøy Austevoll. “The facility is modern, efficient, and forward-looking – but it’s the people who make the real difference. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved here.”
The grand opening brought together proud owners, managers, employees, and local residents, who gathered to celebrate the investment and its significance for both the company and the surrounding community. The event highlighted Lerøy’s ongoing commitment to innovation, local employment, and the sustainable development of Norway’s globally renowned seafood industry.
With this major upgrade, Lerøy Austevoll strengthens its position as a key player in delivering high-quality, responsibly produced seafood to markets around the world.
