AgroCrea and AgroProtagonistas aim to introduce students to agriculture, food production, innovation and career opportunities
Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has launched two national contests aimed at encouraging young people to learn more about the agri-food sector and explore its educational and career opportunities.
The initiatives, AgroCrea and Cultiva tu Futuro: Young AgroProtagonists, form part of the ministry’s broader “Sow, Grow and Harvest Your Future” agri-food training strategy. The programme seeks to increase awareness among students about the importance of agriculture and food production while highlighting the sector’s growing role in innovation, technology and sustainability.
AgroCrea is designed for students from early childhood education through primary and secondary education and the Baccalaureate. Participants will develop creative projects that explore where food comes from, the work carried out by farmers and livestock producers, and the importance of the agri-food sector in everyday life.
Registration for AgroCrea will be open from September 15 to 30, 2026, while participating students can submit their projects between April 13 and 30, 2027.
The second initiative, AgroProtagonistas, is aimed at Baccalaureate and vocational training students. Participants will produce short social-media videos presenting the opportunities available within the agri-food sector. The competition particularly encourages students to highlight areas such as innovation, technology, sustainability and emerging professional roles.
Registration for AgroProtagonistas will take place from October 1 to 15, 2026, followed by a video submission period running from February 1 to March 31, 2027.
Both competitions will offer three prizes for participating students and educational institutions. All participating individuals and schools will receive certificates, while winning teams and institutions will receive additional accreditation recognising their achievements.
The initiatives reflect Spain’s efforts to build stronger connections between young people and the agricultural and food industries. By presenting agriculture as a sector that increasingly depends on technology, innovation and sustainability, the programmes aim to encourage students to consider future careers across the wider agri-food value chain.
The contests also provide an opportunity for educational institutions to introduce students to the role of farmers, livestock producers and other professionals involved in producing and supplying food.
With agriculture and food production facing evolving technological, environmental and workforce challenges, attracting a new generation of skilled professionals is becoming increasingly important. Spain’s latest initiatives aim to make the sector more visible and accessible to young people while showcasing its potential as a source of innovative and rewarding careers.
