Ferrero India Enters Premium Chocolate Bar Segment With New Hazelnut Range
Ferrero India Private Limited, the Indian subsidiary of global confectionery major Ferrero Group, has entered the country’s premium chocolate bar segment with the launch of two new products, Classic Hazelnut and 70% Cocoa Hazelnut. The move comes as the company seeks to strengthen its position in India’s growing chocolate market, driven by increasing consumer interest in premium products and expanding retail opportunities.
Announced on September 8, the new 90g chocolate bars will initially be available through quick-commerce platforms before being rolled out across modern trade outlets and premium stores in key metropolitan markets. The products carry an MRP of ₹499, positioning them firmly within the premium end of India’s chocolate bar category.
India’s chocolate market is currently growing at around 7–8%, with the bar segment recording a similar pace of expansion. The overall chocolate bar category is estimated to be worth around ₹20,000 crore, although the premium segment continues to account for a relatively small share. Ferrero India is looking to capitalise on this opportunity by growing faster than the overall category and increasing its market share.
“The chocolate market is growing at 7-8 per cent. We are targeting to grow faster than the category and gain share,” said Zoher Kapuswala, Marketing Head, Ferrero India Subcontinent. He added that Ferrero is expected to deliver double-digit growth.
The launch forms part of Ferrero India’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence through e-commerce, quick commerce and digital platforms while expanding selective retail distribution. The company currently reaches nearly one million stores across India, with a distribution strategy focused primarily on metropolitan cities as well as Tier-1 and Tier-2 markets.
Ferrero is also investing heavily in marketing to build awareness around its new offering. Under the campaign “Ferrero Rocher is a Bar,” the company plans to use outdoor advertising, digital media and creator collaborations, supported by a campaign film featuring actor Hrithik Roshan.
The company has already activated the brand around the Onam festival and plans to extend its marketing activities across major upcoming occasions, including Ganesh Chaturthi, Durga Puja, Dussehra and Diwali. With premiumisation emerging as a key trend in India’s chocolate market, Ferrero’s entry into the premium bar segment marks a strategic expansion of its portfolio and distribution footprint in the country.
