Seafrigo Australia Pty Ltd, which operates as Mode Logistics, has opened a new logistics facility at Melbourne Airport to expand its cold-chain capabilities. The new warehouse, which spans 10,000 square meters, quadruples the company’s previous operational space.
The expansion is a strategic move to cater to the growing demand for Australian food exports, which include meat, fish, dairy, and horticultural goods. The increased capacity allows for more efficient handling of preload units and provides extended loading windows for airfreight shipments.
Biosecurity and Connectivity
The new facility features a full range of temperature-controlled zones, including frozen storage from -16°C to -20°C, chilled storage from 0°C to 4°C, and ambient temperature areas. The warehouse is equipped with biosecurity-compliant infrastructure, such as fumigation chambers and a fully enclosed shutter system, to align with Australia’s strict regulations.
Located within a logistics development at Melbourne Airport, the facility offers direct access to Victoria’s road network. This connectivity is designed to provide seamless access across the eastern seaboard and beyond, supporting Seafrigo’s position as one of Australia’s top three export service providers. The company, with 90% of its business focused on exports, also plans to introduce new quality inspection capabilities and upgraded warehouse management systems later this year.
