Amul Named World’s Strongest Dairy Brand, Brand Value Hits $5 Billion

India’s farmer-owned dairy brand records 22% growth in brand value and earns an AAA+ strength rating in Brand Finance’s 2026 ranking

Amul has been recognised as the world’s strongest dairy brand in the latest Brand Finance Food & Drink 2026 study, marking another major global milestone for India’s dairy industry. The brand’s value has increased 22% to US$5 billion, strengthening its position among the world’s leading food and dairy brands.

Amul, marketed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), achieved a Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 93 out of 100, earning an AAA+ rating. The recognition reflects the brand’s strong consumer reputation, market presence and continued growth across domestic and international markets.

The latest ranking places Amul second among the world’s strongest food brands, while it ranks fourth among the most valuable dairy brands globally and 13th among the world’s most valuable food brands. Amul is also the only Indian brand featured in the Top 50 global food brands.

The achievement is closely connected to Amul’s cooperative business model, which links millions of dairy farmers with consumers through an extensive milk procurement and distribution network. GCMMF has 18 member unions, around 18,600 village milk cooperative societies and approximately 3.64 million producer members, with average daily milk procurement of about 32 million litres.

Amul’s business has also continued to expand financially. GCMMF reported a turnover of ₹65,911 crore in FY2024-25, compared with ₹59,545 crore in the previous financial year. Its portfolio extends beyond milk to products such as butter, ghee, cheese, paneer, ice cream, chocolates, traditional sweets and other value-added dairy products.

International expansion has become another important part of Amul’s growth strategy. The brand’s products are now exported to more than 50 countries, while the cooperative has also been expanding its presence in international markets through new partnerships and product initiatives.

The latest recognition highlights the increasing global visibility of India’s dairy sector and demonstrates how a farmer-owned cooperative can build a strong consumer brand while creating economic opportunities across the dairy value chain.

For India’s dairy industry, Amul’s performance provides a strong example of how cooperative structures, product diversification, consumer trust and international expansion can support long-term brand growth.
