DHL and iglo Strengthen Frozen Food Logistics Partnership in Germany
DHL Supply Chain and iglo Deutschland have renewed their long-standing logistics partnership for an additional five years, reinforcing a collaboration that has spanned more than two decades.

Under the extended agreement, DHL will continue to oversee the central frozen food warehouse and manage in-plant logistics operations at iglo’s production site in Reken, Westphalia. The company will also remain responsible for nationwide transportation, ensuring efficient distribution across Germany.

The Reken facility serves as iglo’s primary distribution hub, from where frozen products are transported from production lines to retailers and end consumers. DHL plays a key role in maintaining stringent quality standards throughout the cold chain.

Having worked together for over 25 years, the partnership has grown from a regional distribution setup into a fully integrated, end-to-end logistics operation. Since 2021, DHL has exclusively handled all on-site logistics at the Reken location.

Looking ahead, DHL will continue to prioritise operational efficiency and sustainability. Its initiatives include the deployment of lower-emission transport solutions such as electric trailers, alternative propulsion systems, and trucks powered by LPG and HVO100 biofuel.

Katrin Hölter, CEO Germany & Alps at DHL Supply Chain, noted that the contract extension reflects a strong level of trust and a shared commitment to delivering high-quality logistics services. Volker Büttel, CEO of iglo Deutschland, highlighted DHL’s role as a dependable long-term partner.

Both companies aim to further streamline supply chain operations, enhance flexibility, and reduce emissions, while ensuring a consistent and reliable supply of frozen food products throughout Germany.
