South Korea’s K-Food Exports Reach $10 Billion at Record Pace

A surge in ramyeon demand is helping South Korea’s food exports cross the $10 billion mark faster than ever, reinforcing the global growth of Korean food products.

South Korea’s food exports have surpassed US$10 billion in 2026, reaching the milestone in just 253 days, the fastest pace on record. Strong overseas demand for Korean food, particularly ramyeon, has helped accelerate export growth and expand the international reach of K-food products.

South Korea first crossed the US$10 billion food-export threshold in 2021, and the country has reached the milestone earlier in each subsequent year. The latest performance reflects the growing presence of Korean food products in international markets and rising consumer interest in products associated with Korean culture.

Ramyeon has emerged as a major driver of this export momentum. Korean instant noodles have gained popularity across overseas markets, supported by the growing global influence of Korean entertainment and food culture. Brands and manufacturers have increasingly expanded their international distribution as demand for Korean-style noodles continues to rise.

The growth of ramyeon exports is also part of a broader expansion in K-food categories. Korean food companies have been building international demand for processed foods, snacks, sauces, beverages and other products, allowing the country’s food industry to diversify its export base.

The latest export milestone highlights how Korean food manufacturers are benefiting from the internationalisation of Korean cuisine. The popularity of Korean dishes and products has created additional opportunities for manufacturers to develop products suited to different markets while retaining distinctive Korean flavours.

The rapid progress toward the US$10 billion mark also demonstrates the increasing commercial importance of K-food within South Korea’s broader export economy. With overseas demand continuing to support ramyeon and other Korean food categories, the industry is expanding its presence across global markets.
