The Sabar Dairy project is expected to strengthen Telangana’s organised dairy ecosystem by expanding milk procurement and processing opportunities for farmers. The foundation stone for the new integrated dairy plant was laid at Urja Industrial Park in Toopran, Medak district. The project has an estimated investment of ₹400 crore and is expected to initially process five lakh litres of milk per day. Indian Cooperative

The plant is expected to benefit nearly 10,000 dairy farmers and create around 350 direct employment opportunities. The project is also being positioned as a step toward expanding livelihood opportunities for women and young people while strengthening organised milk procurement, processing and marketing in Telangana. Sabar Dairy’s cooperative model is built around milk producers, with the organisation working to provide remunerative returns to farmers while supporting the production and distribution of dairy products. The dairy’s official profile states that its cooperative structure is aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of milk producers. Sabar Dairy

The recognition of the five women producers therefore adds a social dimension to the Telangana dairy expansion, highlighting how investment in processing infrastructure and cooperative networks can create broader opportunities for rural milk-producing communities, particularly women.
