Balkan Bites Joins Djerdan Burek to Expand Southeast European Food Legacy: Djerdan Burek, a national leader in Southeast European phyllo pies, has officially acquired Balkan Bites, marking a significant union of two women-led brands with deep roots in heritage, family tradition, and culinary excellence.

The acquisition brings together two beloved brands committed to preserving and sharing the comfort food traditions of Southeast Europe. Both companies have grown from humble beginnings, inspired by family recipes passed down through generations.

Balkan Bites was founded as a heartfelt tribute to Albanian roots by a granddaughter determined to honor her family’s culinary legacy. Djerdan Burek, launched in 1997 by a Bosnian refugee family, began as a small local bakery and has since expanded into a nationwide favorite known for its hand-crafted phyllo pies.

“What started with three women and the recipes of their mothers and grandmothers has grown into a sisterhood of brands dedicated to bringing authentic, handmade food to more homes across America,” the companies said in a joint statement.

This partnership reinforces a shared mission: to celebrate tradition, elevate immigrant stories, and bring the warmth of Southeast European cuisine to a broader audience. Together, Balkan Bites and Djerdan Burek continue their legacy of strong women, authentic flavors, and food made with love—for everyone.
