Workshop on action plan for small-scale fisheries begins

The regional capacity development workshop on National Plan of Action for Small-Scale Fisheries got under way at Mamallapuram near here. Participants from Bangladesh, India, Maldives, and Sri Lanka discussed various topics such as the possibilities of scaling successful models around the Bay of Bengal.

The three-day regional meet is being organised by the Food and Agriculture Organization of UN and the Bay of Bengal Programme (BOBP) Inter-Governmental Organisation, a release said. Secretary, Department of Fisheries, Government of India, Abhilaksh Likhi, inaugurated the workshop.
