Revolution Foods Acquires School Meal Supplier Ardella’s

Revolution Foods Acquires Ardella’s to Expand California School Meal Operations

Revolution Foods, one of California’s leading K–12 school meal providers, has announced the acquisition of Ardella’s, a family-owned food manufacturer known for supplying pizzas, burritos, and other frozen meal solutions to schools across the state. The acquisition was announced on August 21, with financial terms remaining undisclosed.

The strategic acquisition strengthens Revolution Foods’ position in the school nutrition sector by combining its large-scale meal distribution network with Ardella’s specialized manufacturing expertise. Together, the companies aim to enhance the availability of nutritious, high-quality, and convenient meal options for students throughout California.

Founded in 1975, Ardella’s began as a chain of Southern California pizzerias before expanding into the education foodservice market. Over the decades, the company developed a strong reputation for producing school-friendly menu items, particularly pizzas and burritos tailored to K–12 nutrition standards. Since 2005, Ardella’s has operated a modern production facility in Carson, California, equipped with Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) technology that ensures product freshness, quality, and efficient distribution. Revolution Foods confirmed that the Carson facility will continue operating as part of its manufacturing network.

Revolution Foods was established in 2006 by two mothers with a mission to improve access to healthy meals for children. The company has grown into a Certified B Corporation, serving more than 35 million meals annually through partnerships with school districts and educational institutions. In recent years, it has expanded beyond K–12 education into senior nutrition programs and other foodservice channels, broadening its impact on community meal services.

The acquisition of Ardella’s is expected to increase Revolution Foods’ production capacity, diversify its menu offerings, and strengthen its ability to deliver nutritious frozen meals to schools while maintaining the legacy and manufacturing capabilities of the Ardella’s brand.
