Türkiye Sees Strong Increase in Hen Egg Production in March
Turkish Statistical Institute reported that Türkiye’s poultry industry continued to expand in March, recording year-on-year growth in both chicken meat and egg production.

According to the latest industry data released on Wednesday, chicken meat production reached 232,063 tonnes during the month, while hen egg production climbed to nearly 1.92 billion units. The figures highlight steady growth in the country’s poultry sector, driven by strong consumer demand and active export markets.

Hen egg production showed particularly strong performance, rising 17.6 percent compared with March of the previous year. Monthly production also increased significantly, moving up from 1.82 billion eggs in February to 1.92 billion in March, representing a 5.5 percent rise.

For the first three months of the year, total egg production increased by 16.8 percent compared with the same period last year, reflecting sustained momentum across the industry.

Chicken meat production recorded a smaller annual increase of 0.2 percent in March. However, month-on-month output strengthened, rising 1.9 percent from 227,793 tonnes in February to 232,063 tonnes in March.

The number of chickens processed during March also increased, showing a 4.1 percent rise compared with the same month a year earlier. During the January-to-March period, slaughter numbers grew by 4.3 percent, while overall chicken meat production increased by 2.3 percent year-on-year.

Industry experts said the sector’s continued growth has been supported by stable domestic consumption, increasing food processing activities and expanding regional export opportunities.

Türkiye’s poultry industry remains a major contributor to the country’s agricultural economy, supplying affordable protein products to consumers while supporting employment and food production nationwide.
