Rapido Launches Ownly Food Delivery App in Hyderabad

Rapido has expanded its Ownly food delivery platform to Hyderabad, introducing its zero-commission restaurant model and planning further expansion across major Indian metros.

HYDERABAD, INDIA – Mobility platform Rapido has launched its standalone food delivery service Ownly in Hyderabad, making the city its second market after Bengaluru. The company plans to expand the service to major metropolitan cities and Tier-1 markets in the coming quarter.

Ownly operates on a zero-commission model for restaurants. Instead of charging restaurants a percentage of each order, the platform primarily aims to recover delivery costs through fees paid by customers. The model is designed around keeping restaurant menu prices and delivery charges more transparent.

Rapido first introduced Ownly in Bengaluru through a pilot in 2025 before expanding it across the city in March 2026. The company says Bengaluru has become an important testing ground for the model, with more than 25,000 restaurant partners and over 50,000 daily orders reported in recent updates.

For the Hyderabad launch, Ownly is leveraging Rapido’s existing Captain network for food deliveries. This allows drivers already participating in Rapido’s mobility services to take food-delivery orders, creating an additional source of demand within the company’s existing logistics network.

Ownly is currently available as a standalone application and has also been integrated into the main Rapido app. The Hyderabad operation reportedly began with around 10,000 restaurants, with the company targeting an expansion to approximately 30,000 restaurants in the city.

Rapido is also targeting other major markets. The company’s planned expansion includes cities such as Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Surat, alongside its broader plan to reach metropolitan markets across India.

The company is positioning food delivery as a natural extension of its existing marketplace and logistics infrastructure rather than pursuing ultra-fast delivery. Rapido has said it is not currently pursuing a 10-minute food-delivery model, while a portion of Bengaluru orders are already being delivered within 20 minutes.

Ownly’s expansion comes as India’s online food-delivery market continues to develop, with platforms experimenting with different pricing structures, restaurant partnerships and delivery models. Rapido’s approach uses its existing technology, teams and delivery network to reduce the need to build a separate logistics infrastructure for food delivery.

For restaurants, the zero-commission structure provides an alternative to percentage-based marketplace commissions. For Rapido’s delivery network, food orders create another potential use of existing delivery capacity. The Hyderabad launch will therefore provide another market in which the company can test how the model performs beyond Bengaluru.

The company has indicated that Ownly will continue expanding across India as it builds its restaurant network and customer base. The next phase of expansion is expected to include multiple major metropolitan and Tier-1 markets.
