MTR Foods Launches Four New Products Inspired by North Karnataka Flavours

MTR Foods has introduced four region-specific products featuring traditional North Karnataka flavours, strengthening its focus on local tastes and everyday household consumption.

MTR Foods, a business unit of Orkla India, has expanded its regional food portfolio with the launch of four products developed specifically for consumers in North Karnataka. The new range includes Groundnut Chutney Podi (Shenga), Nigerseed Chutney Podi (Gurellu), Flax Seed Chutney Podi (Agasi), and Masala Khara. The products were launched on August 17, 2026.

The new offerings are designed around familiar flavours and ingredients commonly used in North Karnataka households. Chutney podis, in particular, are traditionally enjoyed with staples such as jolada rotti, making the new range closely connected to the region’s everyday food culture.

The products are positioned as convenient options for regular household consumption while retaining the distinctive taste associated with regional cuisine. Prices for the four products range from ₹49 to ₹65, making the range accessible to a broad consumer base.

The launch reflects MTR’s strategy of developing products around hyperlocal food preferences rather than relying solely on nationally standardised flavours. The company has previously explored regional opportunities through products such as its Byadagi Chilli, building on consumer familiarity with Karnataka’s distinctive ingredients and culinary traditions.

By introducing products tailored to North Karnataka’s food habits, MTR aims to strengthen its connection with regional consumers while bringing traditional flavours into convenient packaged formats. The approach also highlights the growing opportunity for food brands to combine local culinary heritage with modern retail and distribution networks.

The new range is expected to further expand MTR’s presence in Karnataka’s regional food segment, while giving consumers easier access to familiar flavours in ready-to-use formats.
