VFood’s inaugural export of ready-to-eat eggs to Japan marks a breakthrough for Vietnam’s poultry industry and strengthens access to premium international markets.
Vietnam has achieved a significant milestone in its food export sector with the successful arrival of its first shipment of ready-to-eat eggs in Japan. The export was carried out by Vinh Thanh Dat Food JSC (VFood), marking the company’s entry into one of the world’s most demanding food markets.
The shipment is the result of nearly two years of collaboration between VFood and its Japanese partner. During this period, the product underwent extensive research, development, and quality evaluations to ensure compliance with Japan’s strict food safety and quality standards. Japanese experts also supported the product development process to align with local consumer preferences.
According to the company, the first export container included approximately 172,000 ready-to-eat eggs, highlighting the growing potential of value-added egg products from Vietnam in international markets. The achievement is expected to create new opportunities for processed egg exports while enhancing the global reputation of Vietnam’s poultry sector.
The export comes at a crucial time for Vietnam’s poultry industry, which has been facing an oversupply of eggs due to increased production following earlier periods of high market prices. The resulting surplus has placed downward pressure on domestic egg prices, affecting poultry farmers across the country. Industry stakeholders believe that expanding exports can help stabilize the market by creating additional demand and improving farmer incomes.
Experts also view the breakthrough as an opportunity for Vietnamese poultry producers to further modernize farming practices, improve traceability, and strengthen quality management systems. Meeting Japan’s rigorous import requirements could pave the way for access to other premium global markets in the future.
With Japan serving as a benchmark for food quality and safety, the successful export demonstrates the increasing competitiveness of Vietnam’s food processing industry and its ability to deliver high-value agricultural products to international consumers.
