Gujarat CM praises Amul’s AI tool ‘Sarlaben’ as a game-changer, empowering dairy farmers with digital support and smarter operations.
Bhupendra Patel, Chief Minister of Gujarat underscored the growing role of digital technologies in strengthening rural livelihoods, citing the progress of Amul’s artificial intelligence–driven initiative and its benefits for dairy farmers across the state.
Referring to comments made by Nandan Nilekani at the India AI Impact Summit, the Chief Minister noted that the initiative reflects the broader vision of Narendra Modi to leverage technology for inclusive rural development.
At the centre of the initiative is Amul’s AI-powered assistant, ‘Sarlaben’, which draws on nearly 200 crore data records to deliver real-time insights related to cattle health, productivity and farm management. The platform is designed to support informed decision-making at the grassroots level and has been positioned as a tool to enhance income stability for dairy farmers, particularly women engaged in animal husbandry.
Patel highlighted that technology delivers the greatest impact when it is accessible and relevant to local communities. He noted that the AI platform, which he recently launched, demonstrates how data-driven solutions can be applied at scale to address everyday challenges faced by rural producers.
The Chief Minister further observed that integrating advanced digital tools into livestock management is helping modernise the dairy ecosystem in Gujarat. By improving access to timely information on animal care and productivity, the initiative aims to strengthen farm-level outcomes and improve livelihoods across the cooperative dairy network.
