New investments in aquaculture boost Oman’s seafood production industry
According to local reports, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources has signed four major investment agreements to strengthen the country’s aquaculture sector and boost domestic seafood production.

The agreements were signed by Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, alongside the chief executives of the companies leading the projects.

In South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, two large-scale shrimp farming projects have been approved. The first project is valued at OMR 20 million (USD 52 million) and is expected to produce 5,000 tons of shrimp annually. The second project, awarded to Arab Company for Aquatic Development, carries an investment of OMR 21.3 million (USD 55.38 million) and will generate around 6,000 tons per year, positioning it among the largest shrimp farming initiatives in the country.

In Al Wusta Governorate, a third shrimp farming project has been signed with Arabian Sea Aquaculture Company. The project involves an investment of OMR 6 million (USD 15.6 million) and is projected to produce 2,000 tons annually.

The fourth project focuses on finfish farming in Quriyat. Signed with Marjan Global Fish Company, the initiative will produce European seabass. With an investment exceeding OMR 3.8 million (USD 9.88 million), the project is expected to yield 2,000 tons annually.

These investments reflect Oman’s continued efforts to expand its aquaculture industry and enhance food security through increased local seafood production.
