Kerala Forest Development Corporation to Launch ‘Atma’ Tea and Coffee Brand

Kerala Forest Development Corporation to Launch ‘Atma’ Tea and Coffee Brand
New brand will feature tea from Mananthavady and coffee sourced from KFDC plantations in Nelliyampathy, Munnar and Gavi

The Kerala Forest Development Corporation (KFDC) is set to introduce a new consumer brand, ‘Atma’, for tea and coffee produced from its own plantations. The products are expected to enter the market from next month as part of KFDC’s efforts to expand its range of plantation-based offerings.

The new brand will include tea produced at KFDC’s plantation in Mananthavady, while the coffee will be sourced from the corporation’s plantations in Nelliyampathy, Munnar and Gavi. KFDC already markets unblended coffee powder, but the launch will mark its first entry into selling tea under its own consumer brand.

‘Atma’ will be introduced alongside KFDC’s existing ‘Vanopahar’ brand. The new name was finalised following suggestions invited by Kerala Forest Minister Shibu Baby John and subsequent consultations with experts.

The initiative is expected to strengthen the value chain for Kerala’s plantation products by bringing tea and coffee from KFDC-owned estates directly into the consumer market. It also provides the corporation with an opportunity to build a dedicated identity around products sourced from its own plantations.

With growing consumer interest in traceable, plantation-origin and region-specific food and beverage products, the launch of ‘Atma’ could help Kerala’s forest development corporation expand its presence in the packaged tea and coffee market.
