Fast-growing Mexican restaurant chain Taco Tek has opened its first Pennsylvania location in Bethlehem, expanding its presence beyond New York and New Jersey.
The new restaurant occupies a renovated space at Schoenersville Centre that previously housed a Moe’s Southwest Grill location.
Taco Tek currently operates four locations in New York City and another in Paterson, New Jersey, with the Bethlehem restaurant marking its latest expansion. The brand focuses on made-to-order Mexican and Tex-Mex-inspired dishes, emphasizing fresh preparation and customizable meals.
The menu includes build-your-own burritos, burrito bowls, soft and crispy tacos, quesadillas, loaded nachos, salad bowls, crunch stacks and loaded fries. Customers can select from a variety of rice, beans, proteins, toppings and sauces, along with optional queso or spicy queso.
Birria is among the restaurant’s key specialties, featuring chicken and steak birria tacos, quesadillas and other dishes. The slow-braised meat is served with consommé and pickled onions. The restaurant also offers halal meat and prepares its sauces in-house.
Additional menu options include seasoned fries, fried cauliflower, chips with salsa, queso or guacamole, as well as desserts such as dulce de leche churros, Oreo churros and tres leches cake.
The Bethlehem location can accommodate around 50 guests and offers dine-in, takeout, delivery and catering services. During its soft-opening period, the restaurant operates daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., with plans to extend its hours to 3 a.m. later in the fall as additional staff are hired.
Taco Tek is also planning further expansion across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware. The company is interested in opening additional locations in the Lehigh Valley, although no specific sites have been confirmed yet.
