In FY25 , India exported 40% more Kesar mangoes — worth $11.5 million — than $8.6 million worth of Alphonso. In FY22, Alphonso outsold Kesar by nearly 50 percent

Alphonso, long hailed as the king among hundreds of varieties of mangoes found in India, has lost its crown as the country’s biggest mango export in the past two years, a Moneycontrol analysis shows. The prized mango variety from Maharashtra has seen a 15 percent decline in exports — from $10.12 million in FY22 to $8.56 million in FY25. The Kesar variety, grown primarily in Gujarat, has seen a 65.7 percent increase during the period, staging a coup of sorts.
