Fortifi Food Processing Solutions has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Deighton Manufacturing Ltd, a specialist in forming, portioning, coating, and frying equipment, in a move that strengthens its position as a comprehensive solutions provider for the global food processing industry.
The acquisition aligns with Fortifi’s long-term strategy of delivering complete, end-to-end processing solutions tailored to food manufacturers of varying scales. By integrating Deighton’s capabilities, Fortifi aims to expand beyond its core strength in large-scale, fully integrated systems into more modular, flexible, and lower-throughput applications—segments that are increasingly in demand among small and mid-sized processors.
Fortifi CEO Massimo Bizzi highlighted that the addition of Deighton enhances the company’s ability to serve a broader customer base. He noted that, alongside industry players such as Provisur Technologies and Nothum Food Processing Systems, Fortifi can now deliver a full spectrum of forming, coating, and thermal processing solutions across all production volumes, from artisanal operations to industrial-scale facilities.
Deighton’s expertise spans multiple food categories, including protein, fish, dairy, and bakery applications. Its equipment portfolio supports both continuous and batch processing, enabling manufacturers to produce a wide range of products such as nuggets, burgers, appetizers, vegetables, cookies, and international cuisine items. This versatility makes Deighton a valuable addition to Fortifi’s expanding ecosystem.
According to Mark Dowdle, the acquisition also brings strong geographic advantages. Deighton’s established presence across the UK and Europe complements Fortifi’s ambitions to grow in emerging markets such as Latin America, India, and Southeast Asia. Its accessible and adaptable solutions portfolio is particularly well-suited to the needs of these high-growth regions, where demand for efficient and scalable food processing technologies is rising.
From Deighton’s perspective, the move represents an opportunity to scale its innovation and customer support capabilities. Managing Director Andy Hamilton emphasized that joining Fortifi will enable the company to further its mission of delivering practical, high-performance systems that enhance efficiency and product quality for food processors worldwide.
As part of the integration, Deighton will gain access to Fortifi’s broader engineering expertise, manufacturing resources, and global commercial network. This is expected to accelerate product development, improve service delivery, and open new market opportunities. At the same time, Deighton will continue investing in its workforce and long-term growth initiatives.
In a move aimed at fostering employee engagement and shared success, Deighton’s workforce will also be included in Fortifi’s ownership program, allowing employees to participate in equity-based benefits and contribute to the company’s future growth.
Overall, the acquisition marks a strategic step for Fortifi in building a more diversified and globally competitive platform, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, scalability, and customer-centric solutions in the evolving food processing landscape.
