JKTPO Showcases Kashmir’s Rich Food Heritage to Expand Global Market Opportunities
Trade promotion initiative highlights premium Kashmiri food products, GI-tagged specialties, and value-added processing to boost exports and strengthen the region’s food industry.

The Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) has showcased the region’s rich food heritage through a dedicated initiative aimed at promoting premium agricultural products, traditional foods, and value-added food processing opportunities. The programme highlights Kashmir’s unique culinary identity while connecting local producers with domestic and international buyers to expand export opportunities.

The showcase featured a wide range of GI-tagged and specialty products, including Kashmiri saffron, apples, walnuts, almonds, honey, spices, dried fruits, traditional bakery products, and processed food items. By promoting these high-value products, JKTPO aims to strengthen the market presence of local food manufacturers and encourage greater investment in food processing and packaging.

A key objective of the initiative is to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), food entrepreneurs, farmer-producer organizations, and cooperatives by providing greater market access through buyer-seller meets, trade fairs, and export promotion programmes. These efforts are expected to help local businesses scale production and reach new domestic and overseas markets.

The programme also emphasizes the importance of value addition in the food sector through modern processing, branding, packaging, and quality certification. Enhanced processing capabilities can improve product shelf life, increase export competitiveness, and generate higher returns for farmers and food manufacturers across the region.

JKTPO continues to play an important role in promoting trade and exports by organizing exhibitions, facilitating business networking, and showcasing Jammu & Kashmir’s premium products to global buyers. Its initiatives are designed to strengthen the region’s agri-food ecosystem while creating sustainable income opportunities for producers and processors.

By highlighting Kashmir’s food heritage and encouraging investment in value-added food manufacturing, the initiative is expected to enhance the global visibility of the region’s premium products, strengthen export potential, and support long-term growth in Jammu & Kashmir’s food processing industry.
