Mongolia emerged as the biggest overseas buyer of Russian chicken eggs during the first quarter of the year, importing eggs valued at more than US$1.9 million, according to data from Russia’s Agroexport Center under the Agriculture Ministry.
Between January and March, Russia exported over 4,600 tonnes of eggs worth around US$6 million. Export volumes increased by 10% compared to the same period last year, while export value recorded a 21% rise. Other major buyers included the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Abkhazia, and Kyrgyzstan.
Russian egg exports reportedly reached nearly US$27 million in 2025. Meanwhile, the country’s domestic egg production climbed by 6% to around 41 billion eggs, according to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).
Trade between Mongolia and Russia has also been supported through a Free Trade Agreement under the Eurasian Economic Union framework. Increased Russian supplies are helping create stronger competition in Mongolia’s domestic market, which has traditionally depended heavily on Chinese exporters.
