Danone and Arcor have entered a new phase of their long-standing partnership in Argentina by establishing a joint venture dedicated to the country’s dairy sector.
This strategic move brings together Danone’s local dairy operations, Mastellone Hermanos SA—an iconic company with nearly a century of presence in Argentina’s dairy industry—and Logística La Serenísima, their shared logistics arm.
Building on more than 20 years of collaboration, the alliance aims to create a fully integrated dairy business that leverages the combined expertise, scale, and capabilities of both companies. The partnership is expected to drive faster innovation, improve operational efficiency, and expand market reach, ultimately benefiting consumers across Argentina.
The joint venture will unlock new growth opportunities in the dairy segment, supported by eleven production facilities across the region. These plants manufacture a wide range of products, including milk, dulce de leche, cheese, butter, cream, yogurt, and desserts.
Antoine de Saint-Affrique, CEO of Danone, highlighted the significance of the development, stating that the move elevates the company’s long-term collaboration with Arcor while reinforcing its commitment to Argentina and the broader Latin American market. He emphasized that combining resources will create a strong growth platform, enabling greater innovation, efficiency, and accessibility of high-quality dairy products for consumers.
Under the agreement, Danone and Arcor will share equal ownership and control of the joint venture, with Danone holding a 50% stake. Following the completion of the transaction, the venture will be accounted for as an equity-based entity in Danone’s financial reporting.
The initiative comes after a period of financial challenges faced by Mastellone Hermanos earlier in 2026. Through this partnership, Danone and Arcor aim to stabilize a crucial component of Argentina’s food supply chain while positioning the business for long-term growth.
